dutch blockchain week amsterdam

As blockchain technology continues to transform industries worldwide, Amsterdam prepares to host the sixth edition of Dutch Blockchain Week (DBW25), one of Europe’s premier blockchain events. Scheduled for May 19-25, 2025, this week-long celebration of all things blockchain is expected to draw over 4,000 visitors to the Dutch capital, offering a thorough look at the evolving digital landscape.

Organized by the BCNL Foundation, DBW25 features over 30 side events alongside the flagship two-day Dutch Blockchain Summit on May 21-22. Think of it as Disneyland for blockchain enthusiasts – except instead of Mickey Mouse, you’ll meet industry titans like Stephan Lutz, CEO of BitMEX, and Caine Knight from Tether.

Blockchain Disneyland awaits in Amsterdam—trading cartoon mice for crypto moguls at a festival of digital innovation.

The event’s focus spans the entire blockchain ecosystem – from technical advancements to practical applications. Attendees will explore Web3 innovations, digital assets, DeFi (that’s Decentralized Finance, or banking without the bankers, if you will), and NFTs (those digital collectibles that somehow convinced people to pay millions for pixelated images). DeFi platforms particularly highlight the power of smart contracts to automate financial services without traditional intermediaries like banks.

Major industry players have lined up to support the event, with Bitvavo serving as the Main Partner alongside platinum partners OKX, Decubate, Coinbase, BYBIT, and Kraken. This event represents the strategic merging of DBD and DBW to create a mega-event showcasing the Netherlands’ blockchain ecosystem. The European Commission will also have representation through Principal Economist Joachim Schwerin, highlighting the growing intersection of blockchain and public policy.

Beyond the technical sessions, DBW25 offers numerous networking opportunities, including an exclusive VIP dinner, afterparty, and even a Padel Meetup for those who prefer making connections while wielding a racquet.

The Dutch Blockchain Awards ceremony will recognize innovation in the space, while a dedicated careers event explores opportunities in both blockchain and AI. The Opinion, a UK-based PR agency, will serve as an official media partner for the event, bringing their expertise in Web3 marketing to help amplify the event’s reach.

The carbon-neutral event, in partnership with Carbify, will take place across multiple Amsterdam venues, with organizers recommending public transport for attendees. Free general admission tickets are available, with premium options for those seeking enhanced access to this weeklong blockchain extravaganza.
